VEMS - Versatile Engine Management System V3 developed by VEMS Group. A collaboration between several different countries, Sweden, Denmark, USA and Hungary, among others.
The VEMS ECU (Genboard as it was originally called) started as a DIY project for car enthusiasts and the interested, which has now grown to a level where VEMS is a real threat to the established programmable control system manufacturers.
The VEMS Steering System comes standard with:
400Kpa built-in tune sensor.
Speed Density or Aplha-N mapping for separate throttles or sharp cams.
8 ignition channels, with 0 to 8 built-in ignition stages for "dumb" coils.
Without ignition stages in the box, you operate all types of smart coils with variable dwell.
8 Injector outputs, for High-Impedans Injectors are standard.
Staged Injection to run dual injector banks with different sized injectors.
Anti spin contoll through analog speed signal in.
Advanced N2O control for nitrous oxide.
Configurable tachometer and analog boost meter outputs.
Control Lamp/Warning lamp with Check Engine function at power on.
PWM control for Boostcontroll/charging pressure control with solenoid.
Boost By Gear, different boost on different gears.
5 aux outputs configurable for e.g. water injection strategy, intecooler cooling, which is controlled by e.g. RPM and load.
Of course Fuel pump, electric fan, and electric water pump control, Now with PWM!

The VEMS (Versatile Engine Management System) programmable engine control system is, as the name suggests, a versatile control system that can be used for stand-alone control and can, in the right hands, replace virtually any OEM control system. VEMS can control and manage most engine parameters and functions. For example. variable cams, VANOS, VVT, V-TECH, digital and analog inputs and outputs, nitrous oxide control, Closed loop broadband lambda control, Knock control, Launch control, WOT shift/Flatshift, exhaust gas temperature check and control. Of course with alarms and automatic compensation in case of overloading on the important parameters.
Vems can be easily configured to be used with everything from basic mono-point, single or batch injection, which was used on early 80s cars, right up to full sequential injection on both injectors and ignition up to 8 cylinders in full sec, and up to 16 cylids in semi sequential. VEMS can even be used with QUAD VANOS control like on BMW's V8s with double cam sync, double exhaust temp and double broadband lambda. All at a fraction of the price of a competing system.
Vems thus has functions and performance that are usually only found in systems with several times its price, in addition, all firmware and software update / optimization is free, unlimited and can be downloaded online. VemsTune also has an advanced Autotune function which is also free!
New firmware comes out about four times a year with new or updating features.
